MERIH STAINLESS, situated in Istanbul, Turkey, specializes in crafting high-performance stainless steel welding consumables for both local and global markets. Among their innovative products is the AWS Class E385-16 electrode, specifically designed for welding 904L (UNS N08904) austenitic stainless steel. These electrodes are meticulously engineered to offer exceptional resistance to harsh corrosion, particularly in environments exposed to high levels of sulfuric acid and chlorides. With a precise chemical formulation and reliable arc characteristics, MERIH STAINLESS guarantees that its E385-16 electrodes meet the rigorous demands of industries such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and offshore applications that require long-lasting corrosion protection.
The AWS Class E385-16 electrodes are formulated with significant amounts of Nickel (23–28%), Chromium (19–23%), and Molybdenum (4–5%), while maintaining a low Carbon content (≤0.04%) to align with the composition of 904L stainless steel. These alloying elements provide outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in challenging chemical environments. Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of at least 550 MPa and an elongation of 30% or more. The rutile coating allows for smooth arc operation, easy slag removal, and minimal spatter, making it suitable for all-position welding. This electrode ensures a stable arc and high-quality weld metal, preserving structural integrity in both new fabrications and repair work.
