When it comes to the composition and mechanical properties of the AWS Class E630-16 electrodes, they mainly consist of Chromium (~15%), Nickel (~5%), and Copper (~3%), along with Columbium/Niobium and a few trace elements that aid in precipitation hardening. The weld metal can undergo heat treatment to achieve impressive strength and toughness. After aging treatment, you can expect mechanical properties like a tensile strength of 850 MPa, yield strength around 725 MPa, and an elongation of 15–20%. These electrodes are perfect for joining 17-4 PH (UNS S17400) stainless steels, offering outstanding corrosion resistance, hardness, and machinability once properly heat-treated, making them suitable for critical structural applications.
