MERIH STAINLESS, located in Istanbul, Turkey, has built a solid reputation as a manufacturer and supplier of top-notch stainless steel welding consumables. One of their standout offerings is the AWS Class ER308/308L submerged arc welding (SAW) wires, along with the compatible flux, specifically crafted for joining and overlaying austenitic stainless steels. These products are made under rigorous quality standards, ensuring they deliver exceptional consistency and reliability for various industrial applications. MERIH STAINLESS caters to a global clientele across industries like food processing, chemicals, and petrochemicals, providing materials that guarantee high-quality welds with outstanding corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, even in the toughest conditions.
The AWS Class ER308/308L SAW wire is formulated with about 18–20% Chromium and 8–11% Nickel, featuring a low Carbon content (≤0.03% for 308L) to minimize carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion. It also includes trace amounts of Manganese and Silicon to aid in deoxidation. The typical mechanical properties of this wire boast a tensile strength of at least 515 MPa, a yield strength of at least 205 MPa, and an elongation of 30% or more. When used with the right flux, this combination ensures excellent slag detachability, a smooth bead appearance, and stable arc characteristics. The low carbon variant (308L) is particularly well-suited for welding thinner materials or in applications that demand enhanced corrosion resistance.
