The SMO 254 forged fittings are made up of 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, and 0.2% nitrogen, resulting in an austenitic stainless steel that boasts remarkable resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. This super-austenitic alloy not only has high mechanical strength, with tensile strength typically around 800 MPa and yield strength close to 450 MPa, but also excellent toughness. It maintains its structural integrity even in high-stress environments and at elevated temperatures. The balance of hardness and ductility allows it to endure tough conditions without deforming, making it perfect for critical piping and fluid transport systems where reliability and longevity are key.
