Stainless Steel 17-4 PH Coils consist mainly of chromium (15–17.5%), nickel (3–5%), and copper (3–5%) with minor additions of niobium for precipitation hardening. This alloy provides a special combination of high strength, hardness, and moderate corrosion resistance. It can have tensile strengths of as much as 1100 MPa and yield strengths of around 1000 MPa through heat treatment. These coils have good mechanical properties even at high temperatures and are resistant to corrosion in atmospheric as well as mildly corrosive conditions. The material also has good dimensional stability and machinability.
