Stainless Steel 17-7 PH Coils consist of about 17% chromium and 7% nickel, supplemented by limited amounts of aluminum for precipitation hardening. The alloy provides superior mechanical strength, high hardness, and acceptable corrosion resistance. With tensile strength as high as 1300 MPa and yield strength at about 1100 MPa following heat treatment, it responds very well in stress and fatigue conditions. The material has good strength retention at a broad range of temperatures and provides good dimensional stability, and hence is apt for stringent applications where both toughness and resistance to corrosion are needed.
