Stainless Steel 440C Fasteners are manufactured from an alloy of high-carbon martensitic stainless steel containing around 16–18% chromium and 0.95–1.20% carbon. This alloy provides for maximum hardness and mechanical strength upon heat treatment, as well as reasonable corrosion resistance. These fasteners have tensile strengths of over 760 MPa and Rockwell hardness of up to 60 HRC. Extremely wear and abrasion-resistant, 440C fasteners are suitable in applications where hardness and stability of dimensions are paramount.
