The AWS Class ER316/316H MIG and TIG filler wires and rods are formulated with about 18–20% Chromium, 11–14% Nickel, and 2–3% Molybdenum, with the 316H grade featuring a higher carbon content (up to 0.08%) to boost high-temperature strength. This unique blend offers outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and oxidation at elevated temperatures. Typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of ≥570 MPa, yield strength of ≥350 MPa, and elongation of ≥30%. The increased carbon in the 316H variant enhances creep resistance, making it ideal for use in environments exceeding 500°C, while still ensuring good weldability and a smooth, stable arc in both MIG and TIG welding processes.
