Stainless Steel 440B Stud Bolts consist of a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel alloy containing around 0.9% carbon, 17% chromium, and traces of manganese, silicon, and molybdenum. This composition results in the bolts having exceptional hardness and modest corrosion resistance. These stud bolts have high tensile strength, excellent wear resistance, and a Rockwell hardness of about 58-60 HRC after heat treatment. Their mechanical properties consist of a tensile strength of about 760 MPa and yield strength of about 450 MPa, which makes them ideal for demanding structural and mechanical uses that involve strength and durability.

Stainless Steel 440B Stud Bolts are commonly used in high strength and wear-resistant applications. Typical applications are in aerospace, automotive, marine, and oil and gas sectors, where they find application in engines, pumps, valves, and high-pressure equipment. Owing to their hardness and resistance to wear, they are especially suitable for application in environments where surface wear and mechanical stress are prime considerations. While less corrosion-resistant than austenitic grades, 440B is still suitable for moderately corrosive conditions and is a good selection for such applications as industrial machinery, chemical plants, and other heavy mechanical assemblies.
