Stainless Steel 316/316L Plates and Sheets are molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steels with superior corrosion resistance, particularly in environments with high chloride concentration. Their chemical composition comprises Chromium (16–18%), Nickel (10–14%), Molybdenum (2–3%), and low carbon content—316: ≤0.08%, 316L: ≤0.03%. They contain good mechanical properties with minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa, minimum yield strength of 205 MPa, and 40% elongation. The lower carbon content in 316L enhances weldability and reduces the risk of precipitation of carbides, making it well suited for welded construction exposed to severe environments.
