Stainless Steel 17-4 PH Sheets and Plates consist of chromium (15–17.5%), nickel (3–5%), and copper (3–5%), with the addition of niobium for precipitation hardening. This alloy provides a compromise between high strength and average corrosion resistance, with tensile properties of up to 1100 MPa and yield strengths of approximately 1000 MPa following heat treatment. It has mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures and environments, with good toughness and stability of dimensions. The alloy also has very good weldability and machinability and is thus very flexible in the various fabrication techniques.
