**Stainless Steel 436 Sheets and Plates** are produced from a ferritic stainless steel alloy having about 16–18% chromium and 0.75–1.25% molybdenum. Adding molybdenum enhances corrosion resistance—especially in chloride-bearing environments—over the normal 430 stainless steel. 436 has good thermal conductivity and oxidation resistance, in addition to superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking. 436 is not heat treatable hardenable, but mechanical properties consist of a tensile strength of approximately 415–585 MPa and yield strength of about 275 MPa. It also provides good formability, thus ideal for deep-drawing and forming operations.
