Stainless Steel 201 Sheets and Plates are low-nickel austenitic stainless steels intended to provide good strength and moderate corrosion resistance at a more economic price. Chemical composition consists of Chromium (16–18%), Nickel (3.5–5.5%), Manganese (5.5–7.5%), and Carbon up to 0.15%. The materials have a minimum tensile strength of 520 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. Though less resistant to corrosion than 304, 201 has better strength and good formability. It is applicable in processes where high mechanical performance and appearance are needed in less aggressive conditions.
